Evaluating the Ellavi UBT clinically resulted in no complications and all patients included in the case series had a good outcome. The device will contribute towards reducing maternal deaths due to postpartum hemorrhage.  

 

A Uterine Balloon Tamponade (UBT) is a medical device used to manage postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) by applying pressure to the uterine cavity to control bleeding. It's a non-surgical, temporary measure that can be crucial in preventing more invasive interventions like hysterectomy. The device, typically a balloon-tipped catheter, is inserted into the uterus and inflated with fluid, compressing the bleeding vessels.

objective is to find a safe, simple and sure technique for preventing and treating PPH, thereby decreasing maternal mortality and morbidity, and also to find a method to treat PPH in low-resource and primary care settings where even paramedical personnel including ANMs can use this method safely and effectively to save the life of the mother.
